Growing up in Springfield, Missouri, after the death of her mother, Principal Interior Designer and founder, Marissa Whitley Tago, was a shy yet active child whose entrepreneurial spirit quickly evolved from venturing door-to-door with fundraising for school activities to organizing closets, asking about heirlooms and creating more livable spaces for her elderly neighbors. Raised by her Aunt Cynthia, Marissa discovered a sense of purpose in helping those around her. That passion became the thread that helped define her journey through life, always making spaces she lived and worked in, better than when she found them. The connection she felt and the passion she found helping those around her create layered spaces that highlighted each person's life was what fueled her as she moved across the country in her 20's. Fast forward to December of 2016, Marissa graduated with honors with her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and with three small children and Navy family (her husband Nick was a Nuclear Mechanic in the Navy when they met), quickly decided to start The Whitley Co. in January of 2017 for the freedom and flexible needed. Today, Marissa balances home with work taking on projects she believes in regardless of the location, size or budget.
