a million little things |ORC w5

We are at such a cool place in our historic kitchen remodel! Paint has transformed the space and the last few items have been ordered! The transformation is at an inspiring place and although hiccups have happened, we are seeing the end in sight!

Week 5 has us seeing major additions, counting down the days until we have water again and taking note of all of the million little things that still need to be done. Whew! These challenges are not for the faint of heart and yet, here we are and we have base cabinets in the kitchen on the window run, getting templated for countertops tomorrow!

So, about this STUNNING tile by The Tile Shop is the foundation that this space needed. Your eyes immediately gravitate to it and the rest will be simple and sophisticated with some charm mixed in. Check it out here!

Wallpaper sponsored by Milton & King is in our niche that once housed the oven. I had to do a major degreaser first to ensure that the paper stuck but once I did, the paper went up fairly quickly and I LOVE the look!

And then....

That's right! This ALSO happened and now it is feeling one more step closer to a real kitchen! This fireclay fluted apron front sink sponsored by Vintage Tub & Bath is simply AMAZING, heavy and smooth. It is a work of art!!

Before

Next up, painting the 3 sides, adding trim to the inside corners and base trim and placing our FB market hutch in front of it and suspending a gorgeous handmade light from Lightwork Design Co. from the ceiling with a cool brass toggle switch!

Here is our progress this week:

  1. Windows + door trim is painted

  2. Floors are installed + grouted

  3. Walls above oven have been repaired

  4. Walls are painted with ceilings being done today

  5. Hardware is ordered

  6. Wallpaper is installed with trim and base needed to finish this niche

  7. Accent Decor pieces have been delivered + unpacked ( more pics to come on those finds!)

  8. Principle Faucet is waiting for its moment to shine after countertop install on 5.13

  9. Milton & King fabric is being made into amazing window treatments!

  10. Bonus space is being shelved and styled in the coming days

  11. More paint must be bought to paint the base trim we will be putting back in.

  12. Remaining Cabinets will be installed on 5.10

  13. Tile will be added to the side walls from The Tile Shop

After

Trim for this niche has been painted and we are installing the rest of our cabinets early next week! The layered lighting is going to be sensational and add ANOTHER layer of that old, historied and charming aesthetic that I am striving for.

Check out the other amazing folks doin' the damn thing in Week 5 here! A big thank you to the One Room Challenge and to Apartment Therapy, the official media partner!
