Design Concept

Progress over perfection is what they tell us. But, as a designer, man, it's tough to not be a perfectionist! With lots to tackle in the next two weeks, there has been some progress in our moody powder room. Let's begin with the wall mount faucet. It got put in but the height was all wrong so he is coming back out this morning to raise it by 5" for the correct height of the backsplash and countertop height that wasn't taken into account. UGH! There's always something that has to go wrong, isn't there?! It's frustrating but isn't the end of the world. (Perspective in the grand scheme of things is good to have!)

Next up...

Our white, gorgeous Grecian White 2" hexagon tile is laid and freshly grouted (as of last night!) on the floor this week and the look is a really nice compliment to the dark and moody walls that have been painted a 2nd coat this week! I LOVE THIS Benjamin Moore paint color so much!!

Here's an up close and personal look at the grouted hex tile on our floors. Trim will make this really pop... what color of trim, you ask?! The exact same color as the walls, just in HIGH GLOSS! Yeah buddy, I am going for chic and classy here, folks, so the monochromatic look is getting done for the FIRST TIME!

Then comes the space above the vanity...

The two matching mirrors that I bought for the wall above the vanity is a bit too long for the space with the backsplash height so I am rethinking the whole mirror situation while painting the one I have for it or can cut down the backsplash height to squeeze both in vertically which is kind of what I am thinking I should do. But the sconce location is set so I may just use one and go for simple over super styled like I typically go for. Less can definitely be more and this bathroom is so small, I may go for simple here. The lines in the mirror and the added details will make the single mirror a nice, vintage touch either way!

Lots to do but I can see it and I am excited to press on! The tailor came by yesterday to check the length of our valance for the flat roman shade going in with this insanely beautiful Thistle fabric going up on our window for a final touch that is going to be simply STUNNING!! This little touch against the wall color made my heart sing and I cannot wait to see this Milton & King drapery go up in a few weeks!

Here's to a successful countertop template today at 2 along with being able to get it all done in time for the final reveal in week 8. Check out the rest of the DIY/designer crew making their spaces special during this Fall 2021 One Room Challenge here.
